Papers of Witter Bynner, 1912-1946, n.d.

The papers contain the manuscripts of three poems including "Gold" and "Sentences," two of which are inscribed to collectors or friends. There is also a signed page proof of "An ode to a dancer." Specific topics in his correspondence include a defense of his play "Tiger" about the white slave trade; woman suffrage and Senator Dillingham's opposition; the Poetry Society of America; a possible production of "Miss Julie"; his favorite line of poetry; a history of his literary career; the first edition of his first book; and Myra Kelly McNaughton. The collection also contains a list of members of the Poetry Society of America's Committee of the Council of Awards and Fellowships; and a newsclipping. Recipients include Mary C.
